Obituary of Gilbert Maitland Pasley
PASLEY, Gilbert Maitland Sabine- Age 80 of Halifax, passed away peacefully at home in the arms of his loving wife of 59 years. Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late Violet and Russell Pasley. Dad was a simple family man. He had an extra special place in his heart for Nathan, Jeff, Autumn and Jeffrey. Dad had various jobs over the years. He especially loved working on the Coast Guard in the artic. He retired after a 29- year career from Weevex Kentville. Dad was a great listener and he gave the best advice. He had a quick wit and dry sense of humour. He always had a kind word for everyone. Whatever challenges he had to overcome, he faced without fuss and never complained. Dad loved sports, especially the Montréal Canadiens and Toronto Blue Jays. He also enjoyed taking cruises with family. He is survived by his loving wife Marilyn (Chick), daughters Donna (Trevor), Susan (Chuck), grandchildren Nathan (LJ), Jeff (Kim), great-grandchildren Autumn and Jeffrey. Dad also leaves behind cherished nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers Roland, Joseph, Clinton, David, Malcolm, Christopher and sister Kathleen (kitty). Arrangements and Cremation have been entrusted to J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax. Cremation has taken place, and at dad’s request, there will be no service. There will be a private spreading of his ashes at Point Pleasant Park at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
