Obituary
Gilbert G. Powers, 89, of Pugwash, NS, and formerly of Moncton, passed away peacefully at his residence on Thursday, July 27, 2023. Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late George and Josephine Powers.
Gilbert retired as a contractor in the Moncton area and built over 100 homes over the years. He was a former member of The Moncton Golf Club, The Lakeside Golf and Country Club, Moncton Curling Club and Beaver Curling Club. In his earlier years he was active in many sports including, Hockey, Boxing, Softball. Golf, Curling, Jogging and playing racquet ball with his nephew, Brian Russell. He had many hobbies over the years but was most active in selling and trading cars, guitars, coins, and stamps. He was a fella who always kept busy.
He will be sadly missed by his son, Gary Powers (Margaret); grandchildren, Krista Adams (Brad), Alyson MacMichael (Greigh);great grandchildren, Makayla, Nathan and Greyson; as well as his sister, Mildred Flood (Herbert).
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Brenda; son, Donald; and sisters, Katie and Rita.
The family would like to say a tremendous THANK YOU! to the staff at the East Cumberland Lodge for the wonderful care shown to Gil during his stay, especially to Tammy, Angela, Becky and Brittany.
A public graveside service will be held on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Elmwood Cemetery.
