It is with great sadness that the families of the late Gideon Angus House announce his passing at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook, NL, on Sunday June 11th, 2023, at the age of 86 years.
Gideon loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, and started lobster fishing at an early age with his father. He worked at the Newfoundland Zinc mine in Daniel’s Harbour for several years, before returning to lobster fishing and becoming co-owner of an outfitting business for many years up to his retirement. He enjoyed playing the accordion and having a good yarn.
Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories is his wife Ruby House and children; Floyd of Little Rapids, NL, Stephen (Suzanne) of Gander, NL, Kirby of Daniel’s Harbour, his 3 grandchildren, Megan, Sarah and Patrick; his brothers Warren (Sharon), Bernard (Myrna) and Roger (Susan); his sister in-laws Margaret and Rowena. Gideon was predeceased by his parents, Hardy and Myrtle House; his daughter, Cindy Laura Myrtle House; his brothers Riley (Rita), Stanley (Maud), Maxwell and Oscar. Also leaving to mourn a large circle of other relatives, family, & friends.
The family would like to say a special thank-you to the Nurse’s, Doctor’s and staff at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook, NL.
The family will be receiving family and friends at the Holy Cross Anglican Church in Daniel’s Hr, NL, on Tuesday, June13th, 2023 from the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 pm, where also the funeral service will take place on Wednesday, June 14th, 2023, at 2:00 pm, with the Rev: Terry Rose officiating, and keeping with Gideon’s wishes cremation to follow and a inurnment to follow at a later date.
