Gerry passed away peacefully on Feb 3, 2023 at the Roozen Family Hospice in Edmonton due to complications of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia.
He is survived by his loving wife Deb, sons: Greg (Tara), Tim (Naomi), and Joel. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Marion; and 2 nephews, Colin and JC; Gerry was also predeceased by his father, Gerrit; mother, Louise; and his only sibling Randy (Marion).
Gerry had a long career with Imperial Oil with most of it at Strathcona Refinery and then enjoyed a second career teaching Power Engineering at NAIT.
The family would like to thank all those who visited, phoned, texted and emailed Gerry during his illness. It gave him tremendous comfort. They also extend a special thanks to the staff and leadership of Roozen Family Hospice and in particular Dr. Berry and Dr. Witharana. AHS Palliative Homecare was instrumental in allowing Gerry to stay at home for as long as possible.
A Memorial Service will be held at Connelly-McKinley Funeral Home Saturday, February 11, 2023, at 10:00 a.m.
Donations in lieu of flowers are kindly accepted by the Pilgrim’ Hospice Society.
