It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Gerry Barker, on June 3rd, 2023. Predeceased by loving wife Deanna (Wright) 2005. He was a rock for his children Nolan (Harman) and Joanna (Matthew). He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Walter and Benjamin (Joanna) and his four legged Granddogs Buddy and Jace (Nolan). Cherished by his Father Gord (Pat) and predeceased by his Mother Helen 2001. Survived by loving siblings Karen (Pat), Laure (Gerard), John (Mary-Rose), David (Judy), Greg (Nancy), Steve. Predeceased by loving in laws Howard 2019, and Barbara 2021. Fondly remembered by sister in law Connie (Jeff), Laurie (George), and predeceased by brother in law Douglas (Brenda) 2008. He will be deeply missed by many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Gerry worked for many years in the City of Kawartha Lakes in the Parks and Recreation Department. He finished his career working for the Township of Cavan-Monaghan. Gerry spent a great deal of time at his family cottage enjoying the lake, neighbours and community of Highlands East. He volunteered his time at the Wilberforce income tax clinic and recently began a part time position with Kawartha FoodShare.
Gerry was always quick with a joke and happy to discuss current issues. Gerry was a wealth of knowledge, advice and love. He leaves behind a legacy to his loved ones.
If desired, donations can be made in Gerry’s name to the Canadian Breast Cancer Society.
A Celebration of Life will take place on June 17, 2023 from 1-4pm. at Lakeland Funeral & Cremation Centre 19 Moose Road, Lindsay ON
