With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of Gerald (Gerry) Phillip Griffith on April 9, 2023.
Gerry was born on October 6, 1931, in Montreal, Quebec, to parents Oscar and Everil Griffith. He was brother to Barbara, Lita, and Hugh, all now deceased. He married Elaine Clarke in 1965, who survives him. Gerry will be lovingly remembered by his daughters Karen, Joanne (Jean-François), and Kim; granddaughters Iara, Cori, and Dakota; extended family and friends.
The world feels sad without Gerry’s sweet presence, wry humour, and infectious laugh, but those who loved him will carry on his legacy of kindness. We will “trip the light fantastic” (as he loved to say), dancing nimbly on this Earth. Gerry’s soul dances on.
The family extends its gratitude to Sacha Vigeant (social worker at the CDN CLSC), Marcella Ellassos (helper), Laura Hickey (Baluchon Alzheimer), and the staff at Saint Margaret’s Day Center for their commitment to the quality of Gerry’s life as a 90-year-old.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Baluchon Alzheimer’s foundation (www.imakeanonlinedonation.org/fondationbaluchonalzheimer/) would be appreciated.
The family will receive condolences on Thursday, April 27, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday, April 28, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., following which will be a Celebration of Life from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Mount Royal Funeral Complex, 1297 Chemin de la Forêt, Outremont, Qc H2V 2P9.
For those who cannot attend in person, it will be possible to watch the service online.
