Gerald (Jerry) E. Davis
1932-2023
Gerald (Jerry) Earl Davis passed away on Sunday, January
1st at the Upper River Valley Hospital in
Waterville, surrounded by his family. He was born January 26, 1932 in
Upper Brighton, New Brunswick to Dorothy and Edward Davis, part of a
family of 10. Besides his parents he was predeceased by brothers
Clayton, Willard, Bill, Kirk and three sisters; Claudine Gilham, Gaye
Antworth, and twin sister Joyce Moore. Survived by sisters, Judy
Perley and Diana Giberson, and sisters-in-law Joyce Davis and Ruth
Williams.
Jerry leaves behind the family he loved and who will miss him
deeply: Violet, his wife of 67 years; his son Neal (Marie) Davis of
Wilmot and daughter Tammy (John) Malcolm of Fredericton; grand
children: Sarah-Anne (Glen Cook), Karen (Jeremiah Miller), Alison
(Matt Flynn), Ian, Madeline (Aaron Saunders) and his eight great
grandchildren; Nicole, Evan, Olivia, Evelyn, Bethany, Ezra, Audrey and
Jane.
Grampy was a dedicated and responsible husband, father,
church member and St. John Ambulance volunteer. He was also a child at
heart, always ready to joke, have fun, jump in the leaves with his
grandchildren and great grandchildren, and befriend young people in
the community. Long after his own children were grown up the
neighborhood kids would knock on his door and ask if Jerry could come
out to play – he usually did.
For over 40 years, Jerry was in sales with Aiton Drug
Company, and his interest in people, hard work and honesty resulted in
friendships with clients that continued long after he
retired.
Dad was always active, and loved nature. Whether fishing,
fiddle-heading, four wheeling with friends, or in the yard gardening
and caring for his immaculate lawn, he was outside most waking hours.
He took on many hobbies, including painting, carving, photography, and
making cane chairs. His memory will live on in the many things he made
and left with us, but mostly in our hearts.
