Obituary
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Gerald Hatcher announce his passing on June 20th,2023 at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques, at the age of 86 years with his wife by his side.
Born in Rose Blanche, Gerald was the son of the late Norman and Hattie Hatcher. He was predeceased by his son Shawn (2015), brothers; Eric and Fred Hatcher, mother and father in-law; Charles and Jane Courtney, brothers in-law; James (Meta) Courtney, Philip (Charlotte) Courtney, Cecil Hatcher and sister in-law Emma (Garfield) Francis.
Gerald leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, his wife of 52 years, Catherine, his daughter; Shawnda Hatcher (Walter Walsh), grandsons; Jarrett and Tanner Hatcher, all of Chalk River, ON. Gerald also leaves to mourn his brothers; Cecil Hatcher of Rose Blanche, Kevin (Joyce) Hatcher of Timberlea, NS, sisters; Norma (Sonny) Savoury of Port aux Basques, Ruby (Robert) Humphries of Corner Brook, sisters in-law; Audrey Hatcher and Loretta Hatcher, both of Rose Blanche and Minnie Hatcher of Burnt Islands; plus a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.
A special thank you to the doctors and staff at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre for the kindness and compassion during his many stays.
Visitation will be held on Saturday June 24th,2023 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm, and Sunday June 25th,2023 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at East Haven Funeral Home. Funeral service will take place on Monday June 26th,2023 at 2 pm at St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Port aux Basques officiated by Canon Rev. Diana Fry. Internment will follow at Hillside Haven Cemetery, Isle aux Morts Road.
