Obituary
George Wasylowich passed away at the Canora Hospital on September 9, 2023, at the age of 88 years.
George was born to Tom and Mary (Ozirney) Wasylowich in the Buchanan district on January 18, 1935. He was the youngest of seven children and received his education at Northlake School.
George was a hardworking man. For a few years, with his school friend Ernie by his side, he worked at a traveling carnival in the summer that toured across Saskatchewan and Alberta. Later in life, farming became his passion. He loved his crops and his animals.
Family and friends were also important to George. They would often visit his farm, spending the hot summer evenings passionately talking about current events over cold beers or talking in his kitchen over coffee and treats on rainy days. George always had a great sense of humour. He had a wonderful laugh and an infectious smile that made his jokes memorable. He was a hardworking man who often helped others before himself. His presence will be missed but his wonderful memories will live on.
George was predeceased by his parents, Tom and Mary; his brothers, Steve (Katie), John (Martha), and Bill; and his sisters, Anne (Lucas Yanish) and Lena (Alfred Werner). He leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memory, his sister Olga (Bill Yagelniski) as well as numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 14, 2023, from the Chapel of Leson’s Funeral Home, Canora, SK, with Shawna Leson as certified celebrant officiating. Interment will follow in the Canora Cemetery, Canora, SK. Those wishing to make expressions of sympathy may make donations to the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency, as tokens of remembrance, in memory of George Wasylowich.
