Geneviève Mary Boudreau July 22, 1924 – May 13, 2023
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Geneviève (Gen) Boudreau on May13, 2023 at 98 years old. Born July 22, 1924 in Petit-de-Grat, Cape Breton, to the late Harry and Margaret-Ann (David) Boudreau.
Geneviève had 4 brothers and 5 sisters. She is survived by her 4 children, Joan (Charles) LeBlanc, Alfred (Judy) Boudreau, Claire (Paul) Boudreau-Lessard and David (Danielle) Boudreau; 9 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; sister, Priscilla Bourque; sister-in-law, Catherine Bourque. She was predeceased by her husband, Wallace; brothers, Willie, Urbain, Viateur and Vernie; sisters, Margaret, Stella, Régina and Florence.
Geneviève was working at the Antigonish Hospital when she met her future husband, Wallace, who was in the Armed Forces, stationed in Debert. They were married on June 9, 1948 in Halifax and moved to Wedgeport. There, she took the responsibility of caring for 5 of Wallace’s siblings. Geneviève loved knitting, quilting, cooking, playing cards and enjoyed a good Blue Jays game.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Huskilson’s Funeral Homes and Crematorium. Geneviève’s remains will be buried with her husband, Wallace in Wedgeport. A visitation will be held at the Wedgeport church at 1p.m. followed by the funeral mass at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 17, 2023; Father Albeni d’Entremont officiating. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make a donation in Geneviève’s memory to Saint Michael’s Cemetery, Villa St. Joseph-du-Lac or a charity of your choice. Many thanks to the staff at Villa St. Joseph for their care and kindness.
