Obituary
It is with great sorrow that the family of Gaston Roy announces his passing on the morning of February 27th, 2023 at The Temiskaming Lodge in Haileybury, Ontario at the age of 84.
Mr. Roy was a man of many talents and skills but will be remembered best by his bright smile and the joy he brought to the people around him.
He spent his adult life as a fixer of all things, by trade and by nature. He was an in-demand transport mechanic in many parts of northern Ontario until his semi-retirement in 2009, and a few years beyond.
Mr. Roy was predeceased by his wife of forty years Lauraine (nee Larivee) Roy in 2009, as well as his parents, three brothers, two sisters and one great granddaughter.
He is survived by his children Chantal Roy, Alain Roy, Danielle (Allan)Roy and Wendy Teal, as well as 13 grand-children and nine great-grand-children. Also left to mourn are his brothers, sisters, in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may pay their respects at McGuinty Funeral Home in North Bay Friday, March 3rd between the hours of 7pm -9pm and Saturday, March 4th between the hours of 10:00am-11:30 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Eglise catholique St-Vincent de Paul in North Bay at 12:00pm. Cremation will then follow at Whispering Pine’s Funeral Home Crematorium, with a spring burial to take place at a later date.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to Diabetes Canada and the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada would be greatly appreciated by the family. Online Condolences can be made at www.mcguintyfuneralhome.com
