HAYDT: Frederick Walter “Fred” – It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at the Norfolk Hospital Nursing Home, Simcoe. Fred Haydt of LaSalette in his 85th year.
Beloved husband of Jeannette (Rohrer) Haydt whom he married February 25, 1956. Dear father of Dennis & wife Wanda of Port Rowan, Deborah & husband Doug Schramm of Baden and Deanna Carl & Lui of Tillsonburg. Sadly missed by his grandchildren Geoff & Kathleen, Brandon & Nicole, Cody, Amber & Pascal, Dylan & Amber and great grandchildren E’owyn and Evelyn. Survived by his sisters-in-law Ruth Haydt of Delhi and Patricia Long of Tillsonburg and brother-in-law Marvin Rohrer of Simcoe.
Predeceased by his parents Victor and Violet (Loucks) Haydt, brothers Victor, Gerald, Donald and Charles.
Fred was a hard working tobacco farmer in Walsingham for 17 years, a janitor at Delhi High School for 12 years. Due to his love and passion for hunting and guns in his retirement years he opened and operated Fred’s Gun Repair in Delhi from 2000 till 2021 where he enjoyed meeting and talking to his many loyal customers. Fred was a very generous family man who loved nature and the simple pleasures life had to offer.
Relatives & friends will be received for memorial visitation at the Jeffrey W. Glendinning Funeral Home, 36 Front St. Port Rowan on Monday from 6-8pm. A public graveside service will take place Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at 11:00am in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Walsingham.
