Obituary For Floyd McLean
June 2, 1957 – June 23, 2023
It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of Floyd McLean, a loving father, grandfather, husband, and friend. Floyd passed away on June 23, 2023, after a short and courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 66 years. He was surrounded by those who loved him most.
Floyd was born in the Magdalen Islands, Quebec on June 2, 1957, to Audrey and Webster McLean. Born into a large family, he was 1 of 7 children. Being raised in a small town, he grew a great love of the outdoors.
A new chapter in his life began when he moved to Prince Edward Island and met the love of his life, Loretta McLean. They married on July 20, 1984, started their family, and raised two children, Amanda, and Ryan.
Floyd was a lobster fisherman most of his life, then decided to move to the “big city” of Grande Prairie to be with his children and grandchildren. He was hesitant about giving up his life as a lobster fisherman but soon realized that he became a part of another family when he started working at Grande Prairie Chrysler. Co-workers soon became more like family and held a special place in his heart.
Floyd loved his family and friends wholeheartedly. His grandchildren were his greatest love. If he wasn’t with his family, you could find him camping with his feet in the sand or enjoying his kayak. Spending time with his family was what was most important to him. As a friend he was someone you could ask for help, and he would be there at a moment’s notice.
Floyd is survived by his wife of 39 years, Loretta, son Ryan (Jennifer), daughter Amanda (Darren), and his grandchildren, along with numerous siblings, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents Audrey and Webster McLean and a sister, Marjorie.
Floyd will be forever missed by all who knew and loved him.
At Floyd’s request, there will be no service, but Floyd will be returning home to Prince Edward Island for his final rest.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that if desired, donations may be made in Floyd’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, 9805 97 St #103, Grande Prairie, AB T8V 8B9.
