Obituary For Floyd Ernest Sloat
September 26, 1939 – May 19, 2023
It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Floyd Sloat at his home in Woking, AB with his loving wife, Margaret, at his side.
Floyd was born in Northmark, Alberta, to Henry James and Irene Sloat. He was the second youngest of twelve children. Floyd attended Westmark school after which he worked in lumber camps and rigs as well as farming. He married Margaret Steinke (Curley) on December 10, 1977 and they were married for 45 years. Floyd worked at the rapeseed plant for 18 years as well as continuing to farm. He enjoyed quadding, farming, wood working, playing cards and his family.
Floyd is survived by his wife, Margaret, step-daughters Beverley (Terry Comeau) and Barbara Clements. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren; Adrian, Lindsey, Jason and Garrison; 7 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, a brother-in-law Henry Diederich and sister-in-law, Rosemarie Sloat.
He is predeceased by his son Russell Sloat, parents Henry and Irene Sloat, sisters Margaret, Ivey, Hazel, Mildred, Myrtle, Dorleen and Mable, brothers James, Alfred, Henry, and Lloyd and a son-in-law, Michael (Barb Clements).
A Celebration of Life will be held on May 25th, 2023 at 2pm at the Westmark Community Hall.
