On the morning of January 3, 2023, Fiore D’Amato passed away peacefully in his 92nd year of life. He was born on January 15, 1931, in the remote Italian village of Pettorano Sul Gizio, where he met the love of his life and wife of 58 years, Iva D’Amato. Together, they immigrated to Canada and created a beautiful life and family in Hamilton, Ontario. Fiore was a cherished father of Luciano and Julie, Claudio and Marianne, and Nancy and Ed. A devoted Nonno to Natalie and Liborio, Michelle and Howard, Patricia and Justin, Anthony and Sarah, Danielle and Laura, Nicole and Jordan, Cassandra, and Stella. Greatgrandfather to William, Sophie, Paul, Eva, Nora, Archer, Elizabeth, and Benjamin. Fiore will also be missed by Susan D’Amato who loved and greatly respected him throughout the years. Fiore was a dear brother to the late Lucia and Mario Lancia, and Rosaria and the late Joseph Pusztay. A brother-in-law of the late Giacomo and Giovanna Tristani, the late Cesidia and Vittorio Oddi, the late Fernando and Iolanda Tristani, the late Elio and Anna Tristani, Irma and the late Dominic Chiota, and Rosario and Carmella Tristani. He will be profoundly missed by his many nieces and nephews, close friends, and relatives. Fiore will be remembered in our hearts as a talented gardener and cook, a fabulous dancer and music lover, and an exceptional bocci player. He will be forever known for his fun-loving, generous spirit and unrelenting willingness to do anything for his loved ones. Together, Fiore and Iva leave a legacy of outstanding Sunday dinners and Christmas gatherings that brought tremendous joy and laughter to our family. We are eternally grateful for their everlasting impact on our lives. Special thank you to the healthcare workers at Brantford General Hospital who took care of Fiore in his final weeks. Family and friends are welcome to attend FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL, 43 Barton St. E on Monday, January 9 from 4- 8pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Anthony’s Church on 165 Prospect St. N., Hamilton, at 10am on Tuesday, January 10, 2023. Entombment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Burlington. In lieu of flowers please donate to a charity of your choosing.
