Obituary for
Felicetta Zimperi
It is with great sorrow that the Zimperi Family announces the peaceful passing of their beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Felicetta (Phyllis) Rachele Zimperi (nee Lento) on June 13, 2023.
In the weeks leading up to her passing, she was surrounded by many loving family members, reminiscing about her eventful life while listening to her favorite Italian songs. She especially enjoyed her granddaughters Pia & Tori reading her stories and offering bedside comfort throughout her illness.
She will now be reunited with her husband Francesco (November 1975), and siblings Josephine, Carmella, Maria, Elvira, Giovanni, and Francesco. She leaves her sister Pierina Napoletano in Vancouver, along with her five children, Patricia Plante, Jack Zimperi, Giovanna Keenan Doody, Frank Zimperi, and Pia Maffei, along with their spouses Yvon Plante, Corinne Zimperi, Alan Doody, Andrea Zimperi and Ken Maffei.
Her immediate family will always remember her delicious cooking, feisty nature, and generous spirit. Her six grandchildren, Tori, Kathryn, Maggie, Bianca, Pia, and Erika are grieving the passing of their loving Nana. Her great grandchildren, Nelleah, Alyssa, Isla and Paul Damien will surely miss ‘Nana’s pastina’ and other Italian favorites. Also mourning is the Mignacco Family. Molly and her late husband Ron were Phyllis’s best friends since their first meeting in 1970. Phyllis had her 5 children and was lucky to add 4 bonus children – Molly and Ron’s Dawn, Paul, Marlayna, and Frank. She can now continue to nurture Paul and Frank in heaven and will miss Marlayna’s daily calls, Dawn’s everlasting love, and Molly’s endless devotion. The Mignacco family holds a special and dear place in our hearts. The friendship lasted over 50 years and it is those years that were most enjoyed, whether it was making sausage or celebrating the holidays, the memories will last us all our lifetime.
Felicetta lived a simple but fulfilling life that started in Italy for her first 23 years. She then moved to Timmins, Ontario in 1958 after she wed. It is in Timmins that she raised her 5 children, and worked as a seamstress until she was 80 years of age. She remained in Timmins until 2021 and then moved to Toronto to live with her daughter Giovanna and to be closer to family members. The move was pivotal in her final days as she was able to get 24/7 care administered by her youngest daughter Pia and her eldest daughter Pat and her son-in-law Yvon in her final days.
Felicetta is also survived by many nieces and nephews from Canada, the United States, and Italia.
A funeral mass and visitation is being held in Toronto. We would be honored if you choose direct donations in support of the Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative care. To donate please visit www.tlcpc.org. Please make cheques payable to Sinai Health Foundations with Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care on the memo line.
You can mail donations to 522 University Avenue Suite 1001 Toronto, Ontario M5G 1W7.
Per mom’s wishes, she will be laid to rest at Timmins Memorial Cemetery, Timmins, Ontario on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at 3pm.
