Evelyn Anne Plewes
It is with sadness that the family of Evelyn Plewes announce her passing on June 5, 2023 at the age of almost 99 years. Evelyn passed away while staying at Sunset Manor in Collingwood. She will be lovingly remembered by her nephew Dave Plewes, and her great nephews Daniel Plewes and Alex Plewes. Evelyn was predeceased by her mother Euphemie Plewes, her father Leslie Plewes, her brother Charles Plewes and his wife Willa Plewes.
Evelyn was born in Collingwood and grew up on White’s Bay. She started work early in 1942 during WW2 at Clyde Aircraft in Collingwood to help the war effort. After the war she worked full time at FW Woolworth in Collingwood for over 35 years, finishing as Store Manager, Evelyn then went on to work at Saunders Books for many years. She was very dedicated to her Church, The Kingdom Hall and was a lifelong member. One of her favorite past times was being with her various pets throughout her many years.
A commemoration will be held at the Chatterson Funeral Home, 404 Hurontario Street, Collingwood on Friday, June 23 from 2-4 pm, followed by a memorial at the Kingdom Hall Church, 2985 Sixth Line Collingwood on Saturday, June 24 from 2-3 pm.
