On the evening of December 29th, 2022, Eugenia Diamante (Zanon) passed away peacefully at the age of 94 surrounded by her family. Born in Villanova, Veneto, Italy, she was one of 11 brothers and sisters. She moved to Guelph, Ontario in 1956 and began her own family with her husband Fedele Diamante (1976) raising three children, Ornella, Paolo and Dennis.
Eugenia, Mamma and Nonna loved to laugh, dance and was always happy when a familiar face was nearby. Eugenia was an avid sports spectator and loved watching soccer and figure skating. She was always happy to cheer for the athletes representing Italy and Canada especially when the Olympic Games came around. However, nothing made her happier than when her family was all together, sharing a good meal. Of course, if it were her choice, it would always be BBQ with polenta. She was a loving woman with a sense of humour, who protected her family and will be greatly missed.
Survived by her children Ornella McCarron (David), Paolo Diamante (Colleen) and Dennis Diamante (Rose) as well as her beloved grandchildren: Amanda McCarron-Gallant (Patrick), Benjamin McCarron, Marcus Diamante, Camilla Diamante and Giovanni Diamante and her sister Ada in Italy.
Predeceased by her parents Pietro and Luiga Zanon and her siblings Anna, Nella, Felieno, Antonio, Luigi, Bruna, Sunta, Mario and Enio.
The family would like to thank the wonderful and caring nurses, RPN’s and PSW’s at The Elliott Nursing Home (Paisley).
Arrangements entrusted to Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Dublin Chapel, 252 Dublin St. N., Guelph. Visitation will take place on Tuesday January 3rd, 2023 from 5-8pm. A Funeral Mass will take place at Holy Rosary Church, 175 Emma St, Guelph, on Wednesday January 4th, 2023 at 10:30am. Interment to follow.
