Esther Violet Sauder, age 86, a resident of The Maples Home for Seniors, Tavistock passed away peacefully at Rotary Hospice, Stratford on January 11, 2023. Born in Millbank, daughter of the late Joseph and Violet Gerber.
Beloved wife of the late Sydney Brubacher Sauder who predeceased her July 21, 2019. Loving mother of Colleen Steckly (Bruce) and Charlotte Steckly (Perry). Grandmother of Rachel and Connor. Sister-in-law of John Gingerich, Melvin Sauder (Irene), Betty Martin, Nelson Sauder (Martha), Orvie Sauder (Esther), Lydia Ann Reist (Paul) and Elvina Sauder. Fondly remembered by cousins Peter Woolner (Catherine) and Eva Miller (late Lee) Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by brother Norman Gerber (Madeliene), sister Ruth Jantzi (Leonard Roth and Laverne Jantzi) and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Salinda Gingrich, George Sauder (Minerva), Edwin Martin, Alvin Sauder, Alma Sauder, Amsey Sauder (Hannah) and cousin Vernon Gerber.
Visitation will be held at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Sunday, January 15, from 6-8 p.m. and on Monday, January 16, at Maple View Mennonite Church, 5074 Deborah Glaister Line, Wellesley from 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. Pastor Brent Kipfer will officiate.
