It is with heavy hearts we announce the loss of our dearest Ernie who passed away at The Village of Tansley Woods, on Friday, December 30, 2022, surrounded by his loving family at the age of 90. Devoted husband of Helen Dmytruk (Nee Gluszyk) whom he has been lovingly married to for 65 years. Loving father to Peter (Mary) Dmytruk of Waterdown and Lisa (Jamie Smith) Dmytruk of Etobicoke. Proud grandfather to Elyse (Sam Wood) Dmytruk, Josh Dmytruk and great-grandfather to Hudson. Loving brother to Zane (Janice) Dmytruk of British Columbia. Forever in the hearts of his many nieces and nephews in the surrounding areas and Calgary. Predeceased by his parents Max and Pearl Dmytruk (Nee Strilchuk) and by his sister Leslie (John) Lawrynowicz. Ernie was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on April 6, 1932, and moved as a child to Toronto. He graduated from Ryerson University for Metallurgical Engineering and worked for many years in the steel trade. After marriage Ernie and his wife, Helen, settled in Burlington and lived there for 65 years. Ernie may be gone from this world; however, he lives on in the stories and memories he has left with all those he touched during his lifetime. As per Ernie’s wishes, and that of his family, a private cremation has taken place. Memorial Visitation at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 485 Brant Street, (one block north of City Hall), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), on Friday January 6, 2023 from 3-5 pm. Private family interment to take place at a later date at Greenwood Cemetery. If desired, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Parkinson Canada or the Alzheimer Society of Canada would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
