Obituary
Elspeth “Eppie” Bagley
1931 – 2023
It is with great sadness that the family announces the death of Dorothy Elspeth (Eppie) Christine (Lockerbie) Bagley, wife of the late Kenneth Bagley. Eppie passed away peacefully January 11th, 2023, at Losier Hall, Miramichi NB, at the age of 91.
Eppie was born October 24th 1931, in Napan, NB, to the late Andrew and Dorothy (Cameron) Lockerbie.
She will be greatly missed and cherished by her children: daughter, Marsha Murphy of Miramichi; and sons: Derreck (Rick) Murphy (Agnes), and Leo Murphy (Judy) of Napan. She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren: Matthew Murphy (Krista), Amanda Murphy, Rebecca Murphy, Heather MacDonald (Ryan), Laura St.Coeur (Wade), Christine Colwell (Chris), Jesse Murphy, and Kiefer Murphy. She will be lovingly remembered as “GeGe” by her great-grandchildren: Owen, Isaac, Ivy, Sophie, Henry and Anna.
She was predeceased by her parents, Andrew and Dorothy Lockerbie; and her son, Michael Murphy (the late Linda Murphy); sister, Edna Murdock; and brother, Harold Lockerbie.
Eppie was devoted to raising her family. Later in life, she dedicated herself to a career in nursing, including working in Oromocto, Chatham and Miramichi Hospitals. Nursing was Eppie’s passion; her caring and pleasant nature, gentle bedside manner, and her smile and laughter will be remembered fondly.
In her last years, Eppie still enjoyed and relished in the company of others, especially family. She valued connections and always made time for phone calls, cards, and letters. Eppie remained involved in her community and church and was a member of the Saint Andrew’s United Church and the U.C.W.
Eppie endeared herself to all who met her; she will forever be remembered for her spunky zest for life, caring heart, and love of family and friends.
There was no visitation. A celebration of her life took place at Saint Andrew’s United Church, 188 Wellington Street, Miramichi, on Monday, January 16th, 2023, at 11 AM with The Reverend Geza Szemok officiating.
