Elizabeth Dianne Saurette
Elizabeth was born on August 22, 1943 in Kenora, Ontario and passed away on Tuesday May 9, 2023 in Alliston, Ontario.
Throughout her life, Elizabeth held many careers in sales from Winnipeg to the East Coast as she followed her husband Charlie’s career as a commercial banker with TD Bank until they retired in Lakeland, Florida and Alliston. Elizabeth was an amazing woman and a “jill” of all trades! Charlie might have been smart and good looking but definitely not handy so Elizabeth held down the fort and literally could do anything and fix anything. She was very creative and loved to work with her hands. She started sewing and knitting at an early age and held those crafts to the day she died. Being a part of many volunteer sewing and quilting groups in her community was a highlight of her later years. She was very proud of all the initiatives they did and the items they “made with love” for many babies and children at the local hospital.
Elizabeth always needed to be active. She would be up early in the mornings “putzing” around. She would spend time on her bike and at the gym and like her husband and sons, she was an avid golfer. She was a loving and caring person and created lasting friendships wherever she went.
Charlie and Elizabeth were very smart with their finances and very generous to their family and friends. They used their means to encourage and support all of their grandchildren in their pursuit of a higher education. From the day each grandchild was born, they invested annually so that each child had the means to attend post-secondary institution without incurring debt. She was very proud of her sons and all they accomplished, and her grandchildren too. The legacy she and Charlie have left behind is impressive and one to be proud of.
Elizabeth will be sadly missed by her two sons Richard and Bob; her daughters-in-law Diane and Paula; her grandchildren Emily, Alex, Matthew, Nicholas, Lauren, Abby, Hailey and Lily; her sister Ellen Ziegler (Oliver) and brother Bill Hatfield (Kenora) and all her extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held at Drury Funeral Centre, 519 Victoria St. E., Alliston on Monday, May 29th from 1 – 4pm. At Elizabeth’s request, there will be no funeral service and cremation has occurred.
