Eleanor Joan Jenkins, 73, of Toronto, Ontario, has passed in peace on January 25th, 2023, at the Village on the Ridge in Ridgetown, Ontario with her loving family by her side. Eleanor was born in Melita, Manitoba to Lawrence “Pop” and Hazel Quane on January 4th, 1950. She graduated high school in Melita and went on to get a psychology degree from the University of Manitoba. She moved to Toronto in 1970 to work at the Clarke Institute as a research assistant and shortly after she met the love of her life, Terry Jenkins. They married in Bracebridge in 1974 and had three children, Chris, Andrea and Mike. Not long after Mike was born they left Toronto to live in the Philippines, Cyprus, India and Hungary where they made lifelong friendships and happily travelled the world before returning to Toronto to settle in 1993.
Eleanor was the queen of the tennis court, the best friend anyone could have, absolute life of the party, dream wife and super mom. It’s hard to put in few words the extraordinary person that she was, but Eleanor was truly beautiful, inside and out. She made anyone around her feel a warmth in her presence. She would make friends in the grocery checkout line, brought meals out to share with the lepers that sat on the street when living in India, did just everything she could for everyone, always wanting to make someone’s bad day better whether you were her closest friend or a total stranger.
Eleanor is predeceased by her loving parents Pop and Hazel Quane, big sisters Marilyn Armstrong and Verla Driedger and her brothers in law Don Armstrong and Ed Burt. Her love lives on in her husband Terry Jenkins, children Chris (Sasha), Andrea (Scott) and Mike (Tammy) and grandchildren Elliana and Izabella, Evan and Lia, Spencer and Violet, sister in law Jackie Burt, brother in law Jim Driedger and her beloved nieces and nephews, extended family and many friends.
Eleanor was bright light, a positive radiance that the world is lesser without, but it’s a warmth we can still feel in memory. She has inspired her family and friends to live life to the fullest, always have the dessert and the tastiest drink on the menu, get up and dance, maybe even sing a little, give a whole lot of grace and love that much more. In doing all of this, her wonderful spirit lives on.

  1. Terry and Family. We are so very sorry for your loss. Although we only saw Eleanor a few times she was one of the loveliest ladies we have ever met. Her energy and kindness was always there. She will always be there in your memories. Ken and Sandra Pike
