Passed away peacefully at Lanark Heights on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at the age of 94.
Beloved Aunt of Diahann Smith (John) of Kitchener and Sarah Burke (Jason) of Toronto.
Great aunt of Richard, Robert and Emma, C.Finnian and Elijah.
Elaine was one of the last grandchildren of Menno and Sarah Weber.
Predeceased by her father Walter E. (1983) and mother Florence (nee Rogge) (1987) her brothers Richard (2005), Murray (2010), sister-in-law Helen (1991) and nephew Richard Weber (1978).
She was in the first grade 8 class at Shepherd Public School, graduating from KCI and University of Toronto in 1952 with a bachelor of Pharmacy. Elaine was a pharmacist in the K-W area her entire career, first working with her father at Weber Drugs until 1970 when she took over ownership, unfortunately the store was destroyed by fire in 1985. Elaine finished her career with Big V Pharmacy and Shoppers Drug Mart.
She was a charter member and past president of the Kitchener Waterloo Zonta Club, a board member of the VON, Arthritis Society and the Hearing Society. She was a past president of Probus.
As a hobby, Elaine loved singing in choirs and theatres as a Mezzo-Soprano. Her claim to fame was the lead of Bloody Mary in the 1962 South Pacific Production.
At Elaine’s request, private cremation has taken place.
There will be a visitation in memory Elaine at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St. Kitchener 519-749-8467 from 9:30 a.m. – 10:15 a.m. prior to the memorial service at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 12, 2023.
A reception will follow. Interment in Woodland Cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to Mennonite Central Committee- Ontario or Canadian Mental Health Association- Waterloo Wellington would be appreciated by the family.
