Obituary of Eileen Savoie
With great sorrow, we announce the death of Helena Marie (Eileen) Savoie on June 26, 2023.
Born in Charlottetown, PEI on November 23, 1927, Eileen was the daughter of Percy Landrigan and Eileen (Kiely). She attended Prince of Wales College and later Dalhousie University, graduating in 1949 with a B.Sc. (Chemistry). While at Dal, she captained the varsity basketball team, and played on the women’s hockey team. After graduation, she worked at the Federal Department of Fisheries. Following several years raising her family, she returned to work, eventually retiring from the Canadian Forestry Service.
She is survived by her five children and eleven grandchildren, Renée Savoie and Ian MacPherson (Sean, Ben, Nathalie), Étienne Savoie and Louise Renault (Sara, Julien, Gabriel), Jean-Guy Savoie and Judith Chouinard (François, Catherine), Adèle Savoie and Marek Swiatek (Nicole, Daniel), and Daniel Savoie and Suzanne Board (Mathilde). Eileen is also survived by her brother and lifelong friend, Pat Landrigan, and brother-in- law, Armand (Dolorès) Savoie, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, René Savoie, her brothers and sister, Jim (Mary, Eldene) Landrigan, Adele (Fran) Hoskin, Dan (Cynthia) Landrigan.
Visitation will be held at Sainte-Anne-des-Pays-Bas Church, Regent St, Fredericton, NB, on Monday, July 3, 2023 from 11am – 1pm, with the funeral mass celebrated immediately following. Interment will be at the Hermitage Cemetery.
Donations in memory of Eileen can be made to Greener Village (Food Bank) or charity of the donor’s choice.

C’est avec une grande tristesse que nous annonçons le décès de Helena Marie (Eileen) Savoie le 26 juin 2023.
Née à Charlottetown (Î.-P.-É.) le 23 novembre 1927, Eileen était la fille de Percy Landrigan et d’Eileen (Kiely). Elle a fréquenté le Prince of Wales College, puis Dalhousie University, où elle a obtenu un baccalauréat ès sciences (chimie) en 1949. À Dalhousie, elle est capitaine de l’équipe universitaire de basket-ball et joue dans l’équipe féminine de hockey. Après avoir obtenu son diplôme, elle a travaillé au ministère fédéral des Pêches. Après avoir élevé sa famille, elle a réintégré le monde du travail et a pris sa retraite du Service canadien des forêts.
Elle laisse dans le deuil ses cinq enfants et onze petits-enfants, Renée Savoie et Ian MacPherson (Sean, Ben, Nathalie), Étienne Savoie et Louise Renault (Sara, Julien, Gabriel), Jean-Guy Savoie et Judith Chouinard (François, Catherine), Adèle Savoie et Marek Swiatek (Nicole, Daniel), et Daniel Savoie et Suzanne Board (Mathilde). Elle laisse également dans le deuil son frère et cher ami, Pat Landrigan, ainsi que son beau-frère Armand (Dolorès) Savoie, de même que de nombreux neveux et nièces.
Elle est précédée dans la tombe par son mari de 60 ans, René Savoie, ses frères et soeur, Jim (Mary, Eldene) Landrigan, Adele (Fran) Hoskin, Dan (Cynthia) Landrigan.
La dépouille mortelle sera exposée à l’église Sainte-Anne-des-Pays-Bas, rue Regent, Fredericton N.-B., lundi le 3 juillet 2023 à 11h suivi des funérailles à 13h. L’inhumation aura lieu au cimetière Hermitage.
Des dons à la mémoire d’Eileen peuvent être faits à Greener Village (banque alimentaire) ou à l’organisme de bienfaisance de son choix.
