Obituary of Eileen Anita Sylvester
(nee Duvall)
Eileen passed away peacefully at 93 years of age on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at St. Peter’s Hospital surrounded by family and friends. Thanks to all staff for their kindness and compassion. Special thanks to Matthew Kettings, Dr. Richard Scott and Nurse Janet Hunter.
Eileen leaves behind eldest son Kurt Sylvester (Dean), daughter Lori Murphy (Neale), daughter-in-law Deb Sylvester and grandchildren Brendon (Marissa), Stephanie (Steve), Daniel and Julia, great grandchildren Adam, Eve and Cameron and lifetime friend Jan.
Predeceased by husband Norm, loving son and dearly missed Mark, parents Stanley and Grace Duvall, brothers Len (Dolly), Les (Eleanor), sister Audrey (Bill), brother-in-law Frank (Kay) along with many nieces and nephews.
Eileen was a Hamilton native spending her idyllic childhood years at the Delta in East Hamilton, middle years in west Hamilton, later years in Stoney Creek and final years in Dundas. Eileen enjoyed travelling and the arts of writing, reading, painting and music. Special memories were eating chicken wraps and watching the Tiger Cats with Mark, taking walks and sharing a glass of wine after with Lori, and lifelong birthday and holiday celebrations with Jan and the group. She belonged to a writer’s group in Dundas, was an avid library user and played the piano. She enjoyed the Philharmonic Orchestra where she worked for a number of years in an administrative role after years as a legal secretary with Hamilton law firms. She lived a full life and passed away at peace. Notes of sympathy and condolence may be left at www.donaldvbrown.ca
May you hear a choir of angel’s singing Mom.
A private family graveside service at Woodland Cemetery has taken place.
When I leave you don’t weep for me.
Pass the wine around and remember
How my laughter pleased you.
Look at one another, smiling.
And don’t forget about touching.
Sing the songs that I loved best.
And dance one time all together.
As for me, I’ll be off running
Somewhere on the beach and I’ll fly
To the tree I always meant to climb.
When you are ready, I’ll be there
Waiting for you.
Take your time.
“We shall not pass this way again”.
Peace be with you.
