Peacefully, at Arbour Heights, on Monday March 27, 2023 at the age of 86. Beloved Husband of Moira O’Reilly. Loving father to Anne Dalgleish (Scott), Kathleen O’Reilly (Rob Bennett) and Michael O’Reilly. Proud grandfather to Connor, Rachel and Megan. Predeceased by his sister Mary Armstrong (Dale) and sadly missed by his in laws, the McSwiggan’s, and many nephews and nieces
Most of his life was devoted to his love of Duplicate Bridge. Born and raised in Brockville, Ontario, he opened his first bridge club, then after moving his young growing family to Kingston, Ontario he continued to teach, play, direct, represent Canada at the World’s in 1974, and eventually opened The Friendly Loyalist Bridge Club. His main focus was always to build the game, or sport, as he liked to refer to it. He brought bridge to the local high schools, taught all ages, held workshops, encouraged attendance and ran popular tournaments.
Ed’s passion and enjoyment in life spilled out through music. As an avid collector and supporter of all sorts of musical genre’s there was rarely a tune that Ed didn’t hum along with or clap his hands in time too. Whether it was playing the piano, cd’s or radio Ed made sure there was always entertainment through music at every family gathering. Thank you to all the staff at Arbour Heights.
The family will receive friends at the Wartman Funeral Home – Kingston Chapel on Monday April 3, 2023 from 10 to 11 a.m. A Liturgy Of The Word will follow in the Wartman Funeral Home Chapel on Monday April 3, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Interment St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Kingston. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations by cheque to St. Vincent De Paul Society would be appreciated by the family.
