CHALKLEY: Douglas McIntosh “Mac”, 85, of Embro passed away peacefully at St. Marys Memorial Hospital, St. Marys on Wednesday, May 24, 2023.
He was a lifelong resident of Zorra Township having been born in Zorra Township on February 5, 1938, a son of the late John “Jack” Louis and Olive Gladys (Innes) Chalkley.
Mac had farmed for most of his lifetime. He was a member of Knox United Church in Embro; a member of Embro Branch #318 Royal Canadian Legion and was a member of the former Embro and West Zorra Optimist Club.
He is survived by his wife, Lorena Mae (Rounds) Chalkley; two children, Michelle Leduc (Don), John Chalkley (Ann); five grandchildren, Jessie Leduc (Steve Innes), Daniel Leduc, Jacqueline Leduc (Alex Tait), Jenna Chalkley, Amberley Chalkley (Cody Miller); great granddaughters, Addison Bankes, Baby Miller (coming soon); sisters-in-law, Donna Chalkley and Sharon Rounds; several nieces, nephews and their families.
Mac was predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law, Alma and Neil Muxworthy; brothers, Louis Chalkley and Fred Chalkley, brother-in-law, Clarence Rounds; nephew, John Muxworthy.
Relatives and friends will be received in the Francis Funeral Home, 77 Woodstock Street North, Tavistock on Sunday from 2-5 pm where the funeral service will be held on Monday May 29, 2023 at 11 am. The Rev. Douglas Peck will officiate. Reception following the service. Interment in North Embro Cemetery following.
