Doris Shirley Virginia (Mader) Dauphinee
of Hubbards, Nova Scotia passed away at home April 4, 2023 at age 88 years.
Cremation has taken place. Doris was the eldest daughter of the late Dennis and Virginia Mader. She is survived by her daughter, Darlene O’Neill, grandchildren Jennifer Merrimen (Luke Merrimen) and Ryan O’Neill (Kyle Richardson), great grandchildren Graeme and Elizabeth; brothers Ivan, Gordon (Thelma), Ross, Dennis (Wendy), Richard, Eric (Annette), Allen (Valerie), Theodore (Ruth), Barrie (Ken); and sisters Dawn, Carol Ann, Faye (Darrell Penney), Judith (Joseph Mullins), Patricia, Dianne (Kim Frittenburg), and Kimberly. Predeceased by her husband, H. Maurice, sister Marilyn, and brother David.
Doris is known for her strong work ethic having started her career when she was 14 at the Anchorage Hotel in Hubbards. She continued to work in numerous professions until her retirement as a successful commission salesperson winning numerous awards for highest sales with Sears Canada. Doris was an avid gardener and took great pride in her home and gardens. Although born in New Germany, Hubbards was her home. She will be remembered for her love of her daughter, grandchildren, great grandchildren, family, friends, and her dog, Lucy.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at St. Luke’s Anglican Church, 10 Shore Club Road, Hubbards, N.S.
