SMITH, Donald
1941 – 2023
Passed away peacefully at the Ross Memorial Hospital on May 28, 2023. Don was a devoted and loving husband to Louise (Sangster) for 58 years. He will be very missed by his children Sharon (John), Kimberly (Mel) and Derek (Melodie). Pop will be missed by Gary (Crystal), Greg (Leanne), Katie (J.T.) and Matthew. Great grandfather to Charlie, Emma and Donald. Don was predeceased by his parents Azariah and Daphne, brothers Clifford, Gordon, Clyde and Henry and son-in-law Gary. Don is survived by his brother Azariah (Joan), sister Sylvia of Newfoundland and brother David (Bev) of Alberta. Brother-in-law of Allan (Cathy), Stuart (Pat), Robert (Rose), Jim (Paula), Betty-Ann (Bob) and nieces and nephews. As a young man Don left Spaniard’s Bay, Newfoundland and arrived in Toronto to work in the construction industry for over 35 years. A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, June 17, 2023 from 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM at Celebrations, 35 Lindsay Street North, Lindsay, Ontario. A special thank you to Dr. Graham Loeb and the very special nurses at the Palliative Care Unit. If desired, memorial donations may be made in his memory to Ross Memorial Hospital Foundation Palliative Care Unit.
