Obituary
It is with great sadness and loss that the family announces that Donald Charles MacMillan (55) of Moncton, New Brunswick passed away unexpectedly while on vacation with his wife. The family is deeply saddened and shocked by this sudden loss.
Born in Charlottetown PEI on June 22, 1967, Donald was a son of the late Sinclair and Jean (nee MacWillams).
Donald was the best friend and beloved husband (of 27 years) of Leedya Marie (nee Weatherby) of Charlottetown. He was the kind-hearted and loving father to the ‘loves of his life’ Emma, Abbey, and Grace.
He was the much-loved brother of MaryAnne and (Wendell MacMaster) and their children Dillan, Kyle, and Sarah. Donald will be greatly missed by his brother and sister-in-laws; David and Joanne (nee Weatherby) Roberts, and their children Alex, Josh, and Eli; George and Rachelle Weatherby and their children Joseph and Thea. Donald was a favorite and involved uncle to his nieces and nephews who loved Uncle Donald. Donald had a special relationship with his cousin Barry and his wife Beryl MacMillan.
Donald was above all a family man. He and Leedya have raised their beautiful daughters who carry on the loving spirit of their Dad. He had a way of instantly connecting with people as if they had been long friends. He embodied a loving and generous spirit and always made time for his family and friends. He was always there for anyone who wanted or needed his company or help, with a cheerful smile, and a ‘so great to see you’ attitude. He was very involved in his community, especially the ringette community and was always the first to help out. His coaching skills, time, and efforts and many trips with teams will be remembered fondly and greatly missed. Donald was a partner of the Estate Mortgage Inc. (Moncton) and will be missed by his many friends and colleagues.
While raising their beautiful daughters Donald and Leedya moved around the Maritimes working in the financial community and living in all of the Atlantic provinces. Donald’s favourite place, however, was always their ‘Back Home’ cottage in Stanhope, PEI.
Donald was such a kind, generous and caring person that all who knew him couldn’t help but love him and considered it a blessing to have been part of his life.
Visitation will take place at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (506-858-1995) on Friday, February 3, 2023 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm and 6:00 to 9:00 pm. A Funeral Service Celebrating Donald’s life will be conducted at the Hillside Baptist Church, 2290 Mountain Road Moncton, on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at 11:00 am, with a reception following in the fellowship hall. A service of committal and interment will take place back home on PEI this summer.
