Donald Edward Van De Keere of RR2 Courtland, a devoted father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his children on Friday, April 14th, 2023 at the VON – Sakura House, Woodstock after a brave struggle with illness at the age of 64.
Don was a dedicated Transport Truck Driver and Part Time Mechanic for over 26 years with Sandham Trucking in Courtland and previously worked as a General Labourer at DeCloet’s, Tillsonburg. Don enjoyed working on small engines in his spare time and had a passion for NASCAR/Stock Car and Drag Racing. He was very proud of his annual vegetable garden and loved sharing it with his family. Don also enjoyed birdwatching from his porch and inviting family over for campfires.
Predeceased by his loving wife of 36 years Rosemary (Robinson) Van De Keere (January 3, 2015). Loving father and father-in-law of: Shannon (Gord), Port Burwell. Sherry (Mike) and Michael (Brandi), all of Tillsonburg. Proud and loving “Pepop” of grandchildren: Destiny, Kendra, Ayden, Zachary, Aliyah and Cadence. Survived by his mother Hazel Miller (Mayo) of Simcoe. Don is survived by close friend and companion Diane Marshall of Tillsonburg. Dear brother and brother-in-law of: Sue Vanderhoek; Mark Van De Keere (Penny); Jim Van De Keere, Joylyn Van De Keere (Roger) all of Simcoe and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his father Ronald Van De Keere.
A private graveside service will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2023 for immediate family at the Tillsonburg Cemetery. A Public Celebration of Don’s Life will take place later in the Summer at the Delhi Quance Park to commemorate his life and legacy with more details to be announced at a later date. The family would gratefully acknowledge memorial donations that can be made online on Don’s tribute page at the www.verhoevefuneralhomes.com to the “VON Oxford – Sakura House” or to the “Heart and Stroke Foundation”.
