Obituary For Diane Leah Gitzel
October 13 1970 – March 14, 2023
It is with heavy hearts and great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Diane Leah Gitzel (Eldridge) of Grande Prairie, Alberta. Diane passed suddenly on March 14, 2023 at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital at the age of 52.
Diane spent her days as a loving and devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother and friend to so many. She had a passion for family, music, adventure, and having as much fun as she could no matter where life took her. Diane had a heart of gold and was always the first person to help those around her without a second thought, her humor and strength will be missed by each person her light touched on this earth.
Together with her husband and family she built a life she loved, although they tried living many places they always landed back in the Grande Prairie area, spending many years in Bezanson on their acreage before moving closer to town in 2018. She spent as much time as she could with her family and spent many weekends out at the cabin enjoying nature and making memories. Diane’s favorite title was grandma, she was so incredibly proud of her grandchildren and loved each and every moment she got to spend with them.
Diane was predeceased by her husband Travis Gitzel, her father George Eldridge, father in law Walter Gitzel, brother Stephan, and grandparents Wallace and Edith Eldridge.
Diane is survived by her daughters Miranda Ducharme (Blake Hamilton), Shelbie Fried (Haakin Fried), sons Dallas Symon, Jaden Symon, and Lane Gitzel (Alexis Gitzel), her beautiful grandchildren Ryder, Fawkes and Harlowe, her 4 sisters Debbie, Donna, Amanda, and Victoria, brother Arto, as well as many family members that will miss her fiercely.
Diane’s family would like to thank the staff and Dr. Nikolychuk at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital for their ferocious efforts and compassion, as well as for the support our family has received throughout this difficult time.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
