Diane Elizabeth Lowe
1957-2023
It is with great sadness that the family of Diane Elizabeth Lowe, 65,
of Western Shore, announces her passing on Tuesday, April 4th 2023 at
the New Halifax Infirmary, Halifax.
Born in Martin’s River, she was a daughter of the late Carl and
Evelyn (Wambolt) Hiltz.
Diane spent her early life working at Highliner Seafoods until she
became a mother, then stayed home to raise her family. She enjoyed
bowling and bingo, but most of all, she loved going to the cabin on
the weekends. She was a very proud Grandmother, who raised her
grandchildren the last five years. Some of her fondest memories were
of travelling south on different occasions with her family and
sisters.
Diane is survived by her husband, Richard of Western Shore; her
daughter, Katherine of Blockhouse; her grandson, Zachary and her
granddaughter, Shelby. Diane came from a big family. Sisters,
Lillian (Robert) Zinck, Martin’s River; Barbara (Boyd) Conrad,
Lilydale; Janet (Dale) Browne, Mahone Bay; brothers, Bobby Hiltz,
Martin’s River; Roger (Carmen) Hiltz, Western Shore; George
(Jackie) Hiltz, Martin’s River; Kelly (Sharon) Hiltz,
Martin’s River as well as many nieces and nephews who called her
“Aunt Di ”. Diane is also survived by a brother-in-law,
Timothy (Laura) Lowe of Timberlea.
Diane was predeceased by her parents; sisters, Sharon and Jean;
brother-in-law, Don Hardy, Margaret; brother-in-law, Ralph and
sister-in-law, Barbara.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 19th 2023
in Mahone Funeral Home, 32 Parish St., Mahone Bay. Reverend Shirley
Carras officiating. Mask’s are recommended.
Memorial donations may be made to the family; Western Shore and
District Fire Department or a charity of your choice.
The family would like to send a special thank you to the Western Shore
and District Fire Department; EHS and the many health care providers
the family encountered at this time and the kind people of our
community. Your kindness and compassion have not gone unnoticed.
