Delbert (Del) passed away in the loving arms of his wife Evelyn at Victoria’s Royal Jubilee Hospital on December 21, 2022 after a hard-fought battle with kidney failure.
Del was born in Unity SK in 1939 and moved with his family to Calgary AB at the age of three years.
He joined the Navy in 1958 and did his training at Cornwallis before transferring to Victoria BC. In 1961, shortly after he and Lyn were married, Del was sent to Portsmouth England for submarine training. That was one of the best times of our lives.
Del left the service in 1966 and pursued a career in construction.
Del was predeceased by his father Paul Volk and mother Mary Anne Volk. He is survived by his wife Lyn; son Michael Volk of Victoria BC and daughter Karen Volk of Calgary AB; brother Anthony (Marie) Volk of Kelowna BC & sisters Phyllis (Gerald) Bishoff of Lethbridge AB, Violet Underwood of Sacramento CA and Darlene (Bill) Ramunus of Texas; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life to honour Del, will be held in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC on Friday, February 10, 2023 at 2:00pm with interment to follow at the Royal Oak Burial Park next door. Friends are then invited to return to the Sequoia Centre for a reception.
