It is with profound sadness that we
announce the passing of Deborah Emily
Carter, 67, of Amherst, NS. Debbie passed
away peacefully at her home on Friday, September 22, 2023 with her
loving daughters by her side.
Deborah was a daughter of the late Roger
and Clara (Hawthorne) Bacon.
Debbie was a proud and active member of
AA for many years and was about to achieve her 34th year of sobriety
on October 4th, 2023. Debbie and her late husband, Cecil,
were very involved in the AA community. Selflessly helping
others obtain a better life. Debbie and her late husband ran
a successful business for almost two decades.
Debbie’s Golf Car Leasing Inc. was something Debbie was very
passionate about, and took much pride in. Debbie used to
love hunting, fishing, camping, and making the best homemade
donuts. She was also a member of the Cumberland Marksman
Association and was commended for her shooting
abilities.
Debbie was the most amazing mother,
family member and friend. Her daughters were her everything. She
volunteered in Brownies and Girl Guides with her daughter’s
groups, made floats for parades, handmade the most fantastic Halloween
costumes for her girls (which won them several awards). Her
sense of humour, love of playing jokes on you, and her sarcasm are
characteristics that were loved by all and will certainly be missed. A
special talent that Debbie had into her adult years has to be noted,
she could do a very graceful one-handed cartwheel.
She will be dearly missed by her
daughters Christa McGraw, Amherst, NS, Amy McGraw (Christian Jasper),
Brookdale, NS, step children Deborah (Brian) Devlin, Edmonton, AB,
Michelle (Peter) Small, Edmonton, AB; Cecil Jr. Carter.;brother
Douglas (Diane) Bacon, Nappan, Diana Bacon (Bruce Saunders), Amherst;
grandchildren Brooklynn, Cooper, Kirkland, Connor, Cullen, Jennifer,
Amanda, and Peter Jr.; as well as several nieces, nephews, and one
great great nephew as well as Trafford and Loki.
Debbie’s family would like to
thank all of the healthcare workers that strived to take care of her
over the years. Dr. Kelly Morris, Dr. Scott Bowen, Dr. Josee McBeath,
Dr. Simon Huston, The Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre ICU,
Emergency, Respiratory, Palliative and Medical staff. As
well as EHS and the Amherst Pharmasave
Staff.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased
by her husband Cecil and several Aunts &
Uncles.
Arrangements are under the care and
supervision of the Jones Family Funeral
Centre, 70 Church Street, Amherst
(902-667-8777). A funeral service will be held at the Nappan
United Church, William Drysdale, DLM officiating, on Wednesday,
October 4, 2023 at 2 pm. Burial will follow in the Amherst
Cemetery.

memory may be made to the Clara Bacon Bursary Fund.
