Obituary of David Wayne Smith
David “Wayne” Smith
27 Oct 1944 – 19 May 2023
After a long struggle with Alzheimer’s, our dear husband, father, grandad and great grampa is now at peace.
He was the son of the late Robert and Elda Smith and brother to Joan (late Burns) Benton and the late Judy (Chuck) Durant.
He was a real true “County Boy” and he married his high school sweetheart, Judy (nee Maycock) in 1964. Wayne was the loving father of Kelly (Ken) Pericak of Belleville and Steve of Picton. Proud grandfather of Courtney (Troy) of Picton, Kyle (Kara) of Lindsay, Ryan (Shannon) of Lindsay, Kelsey (Andrew) of Montreal and the late Melissa. Cherished great grampa to Mia, Hannah, Taylor, Riley, Oliver, Lucas and Finley.
Wayne owned Smith’s Window Service, which his father started in 1945 and his son Steve now operates. Wayne had many hobbies. He enjoyed all music, especially blue grass. He mastered playing the banjo, which he taught.
The family wish to thank the staff at Helen Henderson Care Centre for the compassionate care he received while he was there.
Cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held in the County at a later date. Any donations to the Alzheimer Society would be greatly appreciated by his family.
