David’s Obituary
Born in Fairview (AB), David Herbert Rose passed away on June 17, 2023 at the Grimshaw/Berwyn Health Complex. He was 79 years old.
Dave’s career as a welder brought him to Yellowknife (NWT); but, as many people do, he came back home to Alberta. While in High Level, Dave met Rose Batt, who he would eventually bring to Grimshaw, where he found employment. They lived at 54 Ave apartments for more than 30 years earning Rose the role of Caretaker for the majority of her stay there. Early on, you would often see Rose and Dave dancing up a storm at the old hotel in Grimshaw on a Friday night. Or, you would spot them having coffee at the café-Dave enjoyed going to the local coffee shop to visit with friends most days. David was an avid BINGO player.
He had one extreme passion; he had one temptation: he loved his chocolate ice cream!
Dave is pre-deceased by his wife Rose Batt; parents and his sisters. He is survived by his brother Henry Rose; step-daughter Jeanette Bancarz and step-son Kim Bancarz.
A joint Memorial Mass for David (& Rose) will take place from Holy Family Catholic Church in Grimshaw (AB) on Friday, July 7, 2023 at 2 p.m., with reception to follow.
Committal of David & Rose’s urns will take place at Batt Cemetery near Rocky Lane (AB) on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at 2 p.m.
