SCHACHT, David John
Passed away peacefully on Friday, July 28, 2023, at his residence in Baden, Ontario, at the age of 62 years. Born in Kitchener on April 22, 1961, Dave was a long-time resident of Wilmot Township.
Best friend and beloved husband of Sandy (Airdrie) Schacht whom he married on March 7, 1998. Devoted and loving father of Andrew and wife Cassandra Schacht, and Tyler and wife Makenna Schacht. Proud and cherished grandfather of Weston, Jaycee and Jack and to Tyler and Makenna’s baby on the way. Dave will be missed dearly by his mother Marie Schacht, brothers Steven and Roger, mother in law Joan Airdrie, brothers in law and sisters in law, nieces and nephews; Bonnie (Jeff) Young and children Emily (Tyler), Megan (Tim) and Maddy (Seth); Andy Airdrie (Sheila) and children Connor and Rebecca; Kim (Scott) Forwell and children Shayne, Wesley and Jesse.
Dave is predeceased by his father Robert “Bob” Schacht and father in law Harold Airdrie.
Dave was a devoted employee of dds Automated Machinery Design Inc for many years. Dave was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed winters spent on his snowmobile and outdoor rink. He loved playing and coaching a good game of hockey and was a devoted and disappointed fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs. Dave loved fishing and spending time on the water at various lakes and at the family cottage on Sky Lake in the Bruce Peninsula. Above all, Dave loved his family and being a grandfather.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron Street, New Hamburg, on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, from 2 – 4 & 6 – 8 p.m. The funeral will be conducted in the chapel of the funeral home on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. Cremation will follow.
As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations would be accepted to ALS Canada or the Bruce Trail Association and can be done on the funeral home website.
