David’s Obituary
David John Boudreau – Of Wedgeport NS, passed away in hospital on August 10, 2023. He was 78.
David was born and raised in Wedgeport, NS and lived his entire life there. David was a Journeyman Carpenter and Lobster Fisherman for most of his life. He dearly loved working on the ocean and building guitars in his workshop. His weathered hands worked the small farm we once had and lobster gear over the years, built the home where his five children were born and raised and always managed to find a way to fix every broken thing or repair whatever was missing.
He was happiest cruising around on his motorcycle, playing guitar at a senior’s residence or building something new in his woodworking shop.
He will be remembered for his teasing jokes, his entertaining stories, his unfailing work ethic and his willingness to come at any time, day or night, to help friends or family when in need and then to lie about it by saying “I wasn’t busy anyway “
In his later years, when health reasons robbed him of his strength and stamina, it also gave him a softness that we have grown used to. During this time, we were able to do for him, some of what he had done for us.
He wasn’t a man of many words in his later years but you could rely on the same response when we would end a phone call with him and we would say “Love ya Dad”. His reply was almost always Me too! A few times, he would “Love you too”.
He is survived by his wife, Susan; his children, Jesse (Christel) Boudreau of Ottawa; Don Boudreau of Grande Prairie AB; Lisa(Cornell) Robanske of Edmonton AB; Carol (Mike) Denomme of Saint John NB; his seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; as well as his siblings, Ron Boudreau and Eileen Funk.
He’s predeceased by his parents, Everett and Edith; sister, Marie; and his son, David Boudreau Jr.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate David’s life at a viewing at Huskilson’s Funeral Home in Wedgeport, NS on Friday, August 18, 2023 from 6 – 8 pm. The request of the family, flowers only please.
His wishes are to be cremated and his ashes to be scattered on the ocean where he used to make his living and spent much of life doing the hard work that meant so much to him.
