Obituary
At 88 after a long well-lived life with bonus years, Dave died on Feb.8th, 2023. Dave was born in Winnipeg, one of 5 children. His parents Monty and Gladys, and siblings Bryan, Barry, twin brother Derek and younger sister Peggy predeceased him. Dave started his work life on the railroad and moved into the packaging industry, retiring after 40 years as general manager. Dave and Dianne (pre-deceased 2011) were married for 55 years and worked together to create their home, cottages and family life. They were proud of their children Cheryl (Mike), Debbie (Jerry), Michelle (Dan), Scott (Laura) and Paul (Rose) and their grandchildren Jennifer, Steven, Michael, Mark and Jeff and great grandchildren Tori and Bennett. Whether at the cottage or at home, Dad enjoyed nature and animals. He soaked in the sights and sounds of these beautiful surroundings often with a cup of coffee and a good steak. Dad enjoyed his friends, Louis L’Amour books, Rotary, playing the stock market and bridge on-line and at the Senior’s Centre. In spite of his health challenges, Dad was never deterred. He had a positive mindset, didn’t dwell on things, and enjoyed his life. After his wife Dianne died, Christine and Dave enjoyed their years together. They liked to go for drives, visit with friends, hang out in Port Dover, and search for antiques and the best butter tarts or shortbread. They enjoyed watching football, and the birds and the deer that visited the yard. We’d like to thank dad’s many specialists for their outstanding care which allowed him to have his 12 bonus years.
Friends may visit with the family at KITCHING, STEEPE & LUDWIG FUNERAL HOME 146 Mill St. N., Waterdown on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m., where a Memorial Service will take place at 1 p.m.
