Obituary
David passed away peacefully at the Grace Hospital on May 13, 2023 at the age of 57 years. During his time at the Grace, he was surrounded by his close family and loved ones.
David grew up in Winnipeg and resided mainly in the North End. He was aways so positive and had many long-time friends who he spoke of fondly. David was always willing to help his family and friends when they needed it and would give them what he could.
He loved his daughters Mallory McRae (peanut), Stephanie Courchene, Kristen Courchene (the Dee) and his 2 long-term partners Wendy Rozmus and Barbra Courchene. David worked hard to ensure his family and girls had what they needed. He did his best to raise his girls to be respectful and it has shown in the love and support they gave David during this difficult time.
David will be dearly missed and always remembered by many. He had a personality that attracted people and always lived by his own rules. David maintained his easy-going attitude and his wild antics were all part of his charismatic charm.
David McRae was predeceased by his twins, his mother Geraldine McRae (nee Greyeyes), his grandparents Nancy & Norbert Greyeyes and Captain McRae.
He is survived by George McRae, Nancy McRae, Wendy Rozmus, Barbra Courchene, Mallory McRae, Stephanie Courchene and Kristen Courchene.
We are requesting a Celebration of Life be held in his honor as opposed to traditional funeral services. We invite all David’s family and friends to join us in celebrating his remarkable life at the Aboriginal Funeral Home, 724 Selkirk Avenue, Winnipeg on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 with viewing starting at 12:30 p.m., service at 1:00 p.m. and a luncheon to follow.
