Obituary
Daniel Emile Bourassa, late of Radville, Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2023 after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was 76 years of age.
He was predeceased by his parents Albert and Madeleine; brother-in-law George Hay and brother-in-law Lawrence Stengler.
Daniel is survived by his wife, Cecile of 47 years; and children: Daniel Jr. of Radville, SK and his children, Bradie and Davin; Kurtis (Kristy) Bourassa of Weyburn, SK and their children: Hudson, Mira, Madden; Douglas (Sarah) Bourassa of Assiniboia, SK and their children: Caden, Makara, Kole, Kyler; Diane (Devin) Herriot of Radville, SK and their children, Arson, Yael and Axson; his brothers, Richard (Denise) Bourassa, Pete (Joyce) Bourassa; sisters, Giselle (Paul) Cherpin and Sue Bourassa; sisters-in-law: Sylvia (Tom) Englot, Rita (Morley) Munn, Lucy (Gary) Robbins; brothers-in-law, Pete (June) Stengler and Richard Stengler; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Born in Radville, SK on February 25, 1947, Dan enjoyed playing hockey and slow pitch, racing stock cars, snowmobiling and playing cards with friends. Dan was always on the move; he began custom combining in the 60’s and eventually started his own custom combining business before coming home to Radville in the early 70’s to work for his dad at E. Bourassa & Sons, where he was a natural born salesperson. He eventually transitioned to President/General Manager where he remained very active in the business.
Dan, along with his wife Cecile sold the business to their four children in 2009 and began to enjoy semi-retirement including winters in Phoenix where he enjoyed attending NASCAR races.
A trucker at heart, Dan enjoyed towing or hauling almost anything and took pride in finding a way to get the most out of every load. Dan was well known for his Saturday trips to Regina where, in the 80’s and 90’s he could be found at most Great Plains Auctioneers sales, and more recently, picking up parts for the dealership or making a deal at Capital Ford.
Family, friends and employees would often hear Dan say “family first!” He spent many years coaching hockey and enjoyed spending time with his grandkids. Dan had a great memory and rarely forgot anything, especially if it was about his grandkids’ sports or activities. In his later years Dan took a keen interest in U.S politics and those that knew Dan well will remember many discussions and debates.
“The only thing for sure in life – is that things are going to change” ~ Dan Bourassa ~
