Obituary For Daniel “Danny” Alexander Hauck
January 27, 1951 – July 3, 2023
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Danny Hauck, the ultimate family man, loving husband, father, grandpa, brother, and friend. Danny passed away on July 3, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Danny was born in Edmonton, AB, the second child to Alex and Loretta Hauck. He had 5 siblings, and they grew up on the family farm just outside the small southern Alberta town of Provost near the hamlet of Bodo. Growing up on a farm he learned at an early age the value of hard work and developed a love for the outdoors.
Danny married his high school sweetheart Daphne Hauck on June 9, 1973, and moved to Beaverlodge, Alberta, where they started their family and raised their three children, Sandra, Brad, and Dave.
He worked in Grande Prairie, starting at Canfor before landing his lifetime job at Canadian Freightways. For years he drove the highway between Beaverlodge and Grande Prairie to commute for work as he wanted his kids to be raised in a small town. His Freightways family can attest to his hard-working friendly nature. Danny could do the work of 2 and his good-natured easy-going personality made him friends all over the city.
Danny loved his family with all his heart. His wife, children and grandchildren were his greatest love. Spending time with his family was what was most important to him.
He cherished his tropical vacations with his love Daphne and would often be found helping chauffeur his grandsons around the city for their activities or in the stands cheering them on in their hockey games. His faith was strong and guided him through life. He had many talents and there was nothing he wouldn’t tackle or find a solution to. He was steady, calm, kind and caring. He was a leader and a meticulous planner and provider, taking care of everything for his family. He would lend a hand wherever needed and was a friend you count on at a moment’s notice. If he wasn’t busy with family, you could find him “puttering about” with landscaping at home, golfing, camping, fishing, and hunting.
Danny is survived by his wife of 50 years, Daphne, daughter Sandra (Roy), son Brad, son Dave (Paula) and his grandchildren – Skyler, Trace, Ryker, Vienna, and Oliver, along with his mother-in-law Marjorie Mielke, and numerous siblings, nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents Alex and Loretta Hauck, and his father-in-law Earl Mielke.
Danny will be forever missed by all who knew and loved him.
Thank you for the many kindnesses shown to our family. Your care, thoughtfulness and prayers will not be forgotten.
A Celebration of Life will take place at Five Mile Community Hall on Saturday, July 22nd, 2023, at 1:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that if desired, donations may be made in Danny’s memory to the Grande Prairie Hospice Palliative Care Society at gpcare.ca or by mail at Grande Prairie Hospice Palliative Care Society Suite 204, 10134 97 Avenue Grande Prairie, Alberta T8V 7X6.
