Colin’s Obituary
Finley, Colin Davis Finley – 88, Oxford. It is with heavy hearts the family announce the peaceful passing of Colin Finley, age 88 at East Cumberland Lodge on February 19, 2023. He was the son of the late Claude and Inez (Chapman) Finley. Born in Amherst Head, he grew up on the family farm in Lake Killarney. He joined the Halifax City Police where he served for 34 years, retiring in 1989. Six years later he and Myrna moved to Oxford where they have lived the last 26 years. Colin is survived by his wife of 65 years, Myrna (Graves) Finley; his son, Robert (Lori) Finley, his daughter, Trish (Randy) Young; grandchildren, Mark (Rebecca), Nick (Al), Ryan, Shawn, and Sammy; step grandchildren, Joe (Nadia) Young, Melissa (Steve) Simpson; step great-grandchildren, Alistair, Lachlan, Jovy; sisters, Barb (Doug) Godfrey, Gwen (Vern) Beebe. Besides his parents he was predeceased by son, Ken (2019). Colin enjoyed summers at the shore in East Linden and boating on the River Philip. He loved to tell stories of times gone by, and always enjoyed evenings playing cards or pool and conversation with family and friends. He continued to work after retirement working on his own property and helping others in the community. There will be no visitation or service. Arrangements are under the care of MacDiarmid’s Funeral Home & Crematorium, Oxford. Anyone wishing to make a memorial donation may do so to their charity of choice. The family would like to thank the staff at East Cumberland Lodge for their care and kindness to Colin, and also thank friends and neighbours for their kindness to the family in recent months.
