Obituary
Cheryl Gaye Betker
25 Jan 1955 – 29 June 2023
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Cheryl Betker on June 29, 2023. Cheryl passed away peacefully at her home in Gimli.
She is survived by her husband Doug, her daughter Aimee (Michael) Betker, son Kyle Betker, grandson Wesley Betker, her sister Debbie (Don) Klassen, sister-in-law Julie (Al) Pinel and brothers-in-law Bob Betker and David (Lyla) Betker, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Cheryl particularly loved spending time with her grandson Wesley; they had a wonderful bond together.
Cheryl was born in Winnipeg and lived there until moving to Gimli in 2003. Cheryl and Doug were married in August 1973 and they were just shy of celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.
Cheryl had many hobbies, but her main joy was quilting, which she used to express her love to others. She was an avid traveller and her highlight was spending 3 months in Australia and New Zealand with Doug. They also spent several winters enjoying life and keeping warm in Florida.
Cremation has taken place. Celebration of Life will take place at a later date with family and friends.
A special thanks to the staff at the Gimli Hospital for the kind and wonderful care of Cheryl.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in Cheryl’s name.
