Obituary
On Tuesday February 21, 2023, Charmaine Emily Forth passed away at the age of 70 years.
Charmaine is survived by her children, Steven (Wendy Hamilton) Forth, Jason (Jody) Forth, Clayton (Jennifer Lovatt) Forth; grandchildren, Emily and Shaelyn Forth; step-grandson’s, Dayton and Daniel Marsh; Kevin Lovatt; mother, Nita; sister, Erica (David) Wilke. Charmaine was predeceased by her father, Eric Lange.
Chamaine was born and raised on the farm, west of Wetaskiwin off of Correction Line Road. After completing her schooling in Wetaskiwin she started her family in Wetaskiwin and then moved to the Forth farm east of Wetaskiwin. As a devoted, loving mother, Charmaine’s top priority was raising her three boys, along with maintaining meaningful relationships with her own mother (Nita), father (Eric), and all of her family. She also dedicated a lot of her care in times of need, to her father-in-law Rudolf, after the passing of his wife Myrtle.
Charmaine was instrumental in keeping the family farm operating, and was always there to help with the chores, along with all the cooking, cleaning and gardening. She cared for all of the farm animals and precious pets alike, especially her beloved Zeke, and later her best friend Pixie. As her boys grew older, she undertook an extra job off the farm at the Wetaskiwin Hospital and later Madyson Manor. During her career, she took great pride in her work and formed many friendships along the way.
When she finally transitioned from the farm to living in Wetaskiwin, she purchased her own home and continued to enjoy her gardening there. For those that knew her, she took great pride in her home and yard, maintained with her love of gardening. The nick-name “Ladybug Mama” that some knew her for, was derived from her love of lady bugs that she often encountered outside.
Charmaine’s granddaughters were very special to her. She would talk about them to everyone, and enjoyed watching them play ringette. Many memories were made from sleepovers where they would take trips to the dollar store to purchase treats and colouring supplies. As well as watching movies or shows with them or attending the local swimming pool where she would never go in, but would watch as long as they wanted to stay.
Out of all of Charmaine’s accomplishments in life, her greatest was probably the victory over her battle with cancer. In 1998, she was diagnosed with colon cancer and given only months to live. She did not falter or give in at any time and continued to fight on. Ultimately, she overcame the disease and continued living life the way she wanted. Despite the happiness that family brought her, life also dealt her many struggles that would have caused anyone to consider giving up. The strength she found within herself to survive, will always be her most understated attribute. Her example of strength and determination is one that we can all look to when facing our own struggles.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wetaskiwin Heath Foundation or the Cross Cancer institute. A private family service and burial will taken place at Millet Cemetery. The family invites anyone that wishes to join them for fellowship in memory of Charmaine at Grace Lutheran Church on Saturday March 4, 2023 at 1:00 p.m.
