It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we, the family, announce the sudden passing of our dear father, papa, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend, Charles at the age of 79 of Rockdale, Cape Breton on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at home.
Charles was born on March 16, 1944, to the late Henry and Alice Mae (Berthier) Martell.
Charles is survived and will be missed dearly by his daughters Kimberley (Darrell), Rockdale, Andrea (Neal), Mount Uniacke and Shelley (Yacine), Larry Uteck. His grandchildren Nevaeh and Cohen whom he absolutely loved and thought the world of and his little dog Benji who never left his side; sister Mary, Sheet Harbour and brother Victor (Ann), Rockdale and many nieces and nephews.
Charles was a hard worker and was continuously on the go. He was a handyman and a perfectionist at anything he did. He was a jack of all trades. If it was broken, Charles would fix it and he would not stop trying until he did. If you ever needed anything, all you did was ask, and he’d be there to help and never asked for anything in return.
His passion was gardening, fishing, farming for many years and watching wrestling.
Charles loved to share stories of his working days in Cape Breton and Halifax which were very detailed to actually think you were there.
He was predeceased by his loving wife Marie, parents Henry and Alice Mae Martell, Father-in-law Fred Bona, Mother-in-law Elizabeth (Roach) Bona, 6 brothers and 5 sisters.
Cremation has taken place with no visitation or service by request.
