Charles Harold McConnell passed away peacefully with his loving family around him.
Husband and best friend of Marion (nee McLeod) for almost 69 years. Father of Fred (Debbie Marx) Bath, Kathryn (Doug Cutler) Kingston, and Susan (Joe Ramsay), Napanee. Grandfather of Lauren McConnell (Dave Flindall) Westbrook, Holly McConnell, Cambridge, Justin Ramsay (Courtney Brigg-Jude) Odessa, Ben Ramsay (Mackenzie), Inverary, and Sarah Ramsay (Patrik Jonell) Stockholm, Sweden. Great grandfather of Ebba Jonell and Aerie Ramsay. Brother of Stewart McConnell, White Lake, and Douglas McConnell (Barbara), Roblin. Remembered by nieces, nephews, extended families and wonderful friends. Predeceased by sisters Maud MacLaughlin, Marguerite Richmond, Pansy Richmond, Pat Cook and Helen Carter.
Charlie’s career as a building contractor with his father (F. McConnell & Son) and then with his son (McConnell Contractors) spanned more than 50 years. His work is evident throughout Napanee, Kingston and surrounding area in hundreds of homes, industrial builds, and restorations to heritage buildings such as the Napanee Courthouse. Charlie’s support and commitment to the Lennox and Addington County Hospital in Napanee was evident through his service on its hospital board for 19 years, serving one term as chair.
The family will receive friends on Saturday May 20, 2023, from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. at Wartman Funeral Home, Napanee. A private family service will be held at another time. Interment at Roblin Cemetery.
