Charles Axmoth “Charlie” Davison
1962-2023
Charles Axmoth
“Charlie” Davison – age 60, of Black River Lake, passed away
suddenly January 28, 2023, after a day of working on his dream home by
the lake with the love of his life, Karen. He is now reunited with his
beloved son, Christopher, whom he has deeply mourned.
Charlie had a diverse family growing up, solidifying his
values of fairness. Charlie and Karen fell in love in 1978; they were
soul mates. As teenagers, they talked about their future and Charlie
promised to build a big house on the hill together. He kept this
promise with the home he built in Newtonville. He was a loving husband
and wanted nothing more than to ensure Karen’s happiness.
Charlie and Karen blended families in 1995, with two boys and two
girls. He loved his family unconditionally. They were blessed with
grandchildren who he loved dearly; spending time with them brought him
great joy.
Charlie and Karen were
also parents to several exchange students over the years from Brazil,
Mexico, Whales, Colombia, Japan and Korea. Leaving lasting impressions
on them, they found great pleasure in creating memorable experiences
with them, trying new food and learning language.
Charlie was a doer, a creator, and master of his craft. He spent
many years as a builder and home inspector, operating his company Home
Sweet Home Inspections. Known for his strong work ethic and
professionalism, you could depend on Charlie. He was a visionary, with
an imagination capable of bringing dreams to reality.
Skillful with a sharp
mind, he was a person who always knew what to do. If there was a
problem, he knew how to fix it. Everyone went to Charlie to ask for
his advice or opinion. Without even thinking about it, he just did
it.
He was well respected for his dedication
of many years to the Nova Scotia soccer community. Involved at all
levels, whether it was playing himself, coaching his kids, or coaching
his wife’s team, refereeing, or mentoring and training new
referees. He was a referee’s referee! In 2013, his dream to
watch a live match in Brazil came true. Charlie truly left lasting
impacts on his soccer family.
Charlie’s happy place was at the lake. He enjoyed
having family get-togethers, bonfires, and going for boat rides. He
had a love for animals, including all of his doggies – Dream, Spirit,
Pongo, Auchie, Amiga and Espiritu. Charlie always took the path less
traveled and always chose the back roads no matter how much longer! He
was an adventurous soul, he loved traveling to warm places, cooking
and exploring new cultures.
Known for his
sense of humour (aka sarcasm), Charlie was full of character. He
always had a smart tongue and loved laughing and joking with everyone.
Charlie was supportive and caring. He was always helping others, and
there when you needed him most. When he loved, he loved. On the
outside he was rough and tough, but on the inside, he was so
kindhearted, a big teddy bear.
For anyone who knows
Charlie, pants were never an option; no matter the temperature or time
of year, he was in shorts. True to his Scottish heritage, he would
wear his kilt at any chance.
Charlie enjoyed
his final years creating his dream by the lake, where he and Karen
planned to spend their retirement years. If Charlie has his way in
Heaven, he will be on a sandy beach under a palm tree in his birthday
suit, with a cold Keith’s in his hand.
He is survived by the love of his life, wife, Karen Davison;
beloved children, Kristen (Jamie), Amelia (Fy), and Colton (Renee);
seven cherished grandchildren, Jaylee, Tayla, Noah, Mia (and their
mom, Cara), Gemma, Elle, and Nova; sister-in-law, Linda (Darrell)
Jordan and brother-in-law, Kendall (Angela) Davidson; maternal sister,
Caprice and many other brother, sisters, nieces, nephews and great
nieces and nephews.
Charlie was predeceased
by his beloved son, Christopher Alton Davison; brother, Linley;
father, Alton Davison; parents-in-law, Maurietta and Murrille
Davidson; parents, Phillis and Les Bezanson; and nephew, Eric
Davison.
A celebration of life
will be held at the Gaspereau United Baptist Church on Sunday,
February 5, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. followed by a gathering in the
Gaspereau Community Hall to share our stories. In lieu of flowers,
donations can be made to Canadian Spondylitis Association, Hope for
Wildlife or the Kings County SPCA. Funeral arrangements have been
entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services,
